Grade 304L stainless steel is a low-carbon version of the widely used 304 grade, with a reduced carbon content of just 0.03%. This slight reduction in carbon prevents carbide precipitation during the welding process, making it the perfect choice for welded structures in highly corrosive environments. Additionally, 304L stainless steel eliminates the need for post-weld annealing, making it ideal for heavy-gauge components.

As part of the T-300 series austenitic stainless steels, UNS S30403 is renowned for its ease of fabrication, outstanding corrosion resistance, and excellent formability, making it suitable for both industrial and domestic applications. Common uses include food processing equipment, construction materials, heat exchangers, fasteners, woven and welded screens, and architectural moldings. Its high resistance to oxidation, even at elevated temperatures, enhances its ability to perform in demanding environments.

The Stainless Steel 304L Sheets and Plates conform to ASTM A240/A240M specifications, providing excellent corrosion resistance. They are particularly suitable for use in environments where stress cracking can occur above 60 °C and can withstand water containing chlorides up to 200 mg/L at 60 °C. Additionally, they offer exceptional oxidation resistance for continuous service up to 925 °C and intermittent service up to 870 °C. However, they are not recommended for use at temperatures between 425°C and 860°C.
