Under mild conditions, 316L is resistant to atmospheric corrosion. It also functions rather well in seawater. Even after welding, it exhibits good resistance to intergranular corrosion. Excellent strength and hardness are also present in stainless steel 316L at low temperatures.

316L stainless steel sheets and plates can be handled using typical fabrication procedures and are weldable. 1700 °F to 2200 °F is the hot working temperature. These sheets and plates go through the annealing process in order to achieve their ideal characteristics. On the other hand, it dominates the alloy’s structure and renders it non-magnetic. After the hot working procedure, these are cooled and quenched using several techniques. Additionally, this alloy can be easily formed by cold-working procedures.
