This alloy exhibits double the yield strength of AISI 304. The enhanced silicon and manganese content effectively mitigates wear, galling, and fretting, rendering the alloy suitable for use at temperatures of up to 1000 °C. Its general corrosion resistance is intermediate between that of AISI 304 and AISI 316. In laboratory assessments, Nitronic 60 has demonstrated superior performance compared to AISI 316L regarding resistance to chloride pitting, stress corrosion cracking, and crevice corrosion.
