UNS S31803 Pipe Flanges exhibit superior resistance to intergranular corrosion, high yield strength, good weldability, and resistance to sulfide stress corrosion, as well as superior resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion when compared to other austenitic grades. It can only be used in temperatures lower than 600 F. While its oxidation resistance is good at high temperatures, exposure to temperatures exceeding 300 degrees Celsius can cause embrittlement. It is susceptible to embrittlement at 475°C if left exposed for two hours. In situations with chlorination, it can be used as an alternative to regular stainless steels to prevent corrosion.
